If you are moving to the United States, customs clearance may be granted duty-free if the following conditions are met:
＊Permanent Residents or Long-Term Visa Holders:
U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), or holders of long-term visas (e.g., L, E, H visas) are generally eligible for duty-free importation.
- Used Personal Belongings:
Only personal belongings that have been used are eligible for duty-free entry.
- Shipment Within One Year of Entry into the U.S.:
Your shipment must arrive within 12 months of your entry into the United States. (However, earlier arrival is recommended.)
Documents Required for Customs Clearance
- A copy of your passport (all sections of the photo page, top and bottom)
- A copy of your e-ticket
- A copy of your visa page or Green Card
- CBP Form 3299 (Declaration for Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles) is required.
